Drone Image Samples Page
This page provides access to images that have been captured with several different drones over the past few years. The galleries of images, for now, are hosted on a photo sharing site as it allows me a simple way to manage them. Unfortunately that site does not allow sharing RAW (.dng) files or allow downloading videos. I may, through expressed interest of site visitors, later add a few samples of each of those to directories on this server.
Skydio 2
The Skydio 2 is a professional grade drone with both great imaging capabilities and amazing interesting flight capabilities. With a 3-axis gimbal it takes great photos and videos. This drone can be flown in multiple ways. One can use a phone, a beacon controller, the phone with a beacon controller or a phone with a standard (joystick type) controller. When using the phone alone or with a controller, the Skydio 2 can be flown using the Skydio 2 app running on either Android or iOS. Photogrammetry flights can be flown using the Free Drone Deploy flight App that runs only on iOS.
DJI Mavic Pro
The DJI Mavic Pro is a professional grade drone with great imaging capabilities. With a 3-axis gimbal it takes great photos and videos. In addition to the DJI App for flying the drone, multiple other apps allow flying along definable paths to capture images to create orthophotomosaics, point clouds and 3D textured surface datasets. My son owns this drone.
AirSelfie
The AirSelfie is a lightweight drone that is smaller than many cell phones. The flight time is only about three minutes and the battery is built in so the flight time is really limited. The camera direction is fixed to the flight frame so the only way to point the camera is to point the drone. Flight control is performed with an app on a cell phone. I have flown this drone to about a 50 foot altitude which seems to be about the range of the drone. It has a 2592×1944 pixel camera for still images and captures 1920×1080 video at 30 frames per second. This was my first drone.
Selfly
The Selfly is a lightweight drone that is designed to allow the props to be folded down into a flat package that is about the size of a cell phone. The image below shows the props in the flying position along with optional snap-on prop guards. Notable differences between this and the AirSelfie are a removable battery and a camera that can be manually pointed upwards/downwards before a flight. The flight time is about 3 minutes on a single battery. Still pictures are taken with 2560×1440 pixels and video is captured at 1280×720 at 20 frames per second. This was my second drone.
